Rubab (or robab, rabab, rebab, rubob etc) is a lute-like musical instrument originating from central Afghanistan. The rubab is one of the national musical instruments of Afghanistan. It is played throughout Central Asia. This is considered the 'standard' rubab and so is usually simply called rubab, with the other types being specified by named type.
