Mugni

Historical diagram of Mugni.
Mugni or Mughni has a round (almost circular) bowlback body and long neck, and resembles a tar except that the two globes are connected and not separated like the tar. The soundboard is wooden, not skin. Some models have resonance strings and some do not. It was invented in the 12th-13th century in the Persian empire of the time, but is now quite rare.
